Everyone has seen the Kylie Jenner ramen noodle recipe ALL over the internet. It’s essentially just instant ramen with egg, butter, and garlic. Sounds pretty simple, and kind of bland, if you ask me. Look, I’m just as fascinated with the Kardashian family as the general public. I don’t know if they deserve the fame they have, sure, but I’m not mad about it! There are, however, some things they just… shouldn’t be famous for. In my opinion, this lackluster ramen recipe is one of them.
If you’re interested in reading the original “recipe”, it’s essentially just a snapchat picture of her noodles:
Anyway, I decided to spice up the recipe by adding some ingredients other than what Kylie recommended, but still using her recipe as a base. I did add fresh garlic and garlic powder, salted butter, and of course, scrambled eggs, but I also added sambal paste, lime, soy sauce, Japanese furikake, and scallions. Overall, my version of the recipe is just as easy, and WAY more flavorful!
Ingredients to spice up Kylie Jenner’s Ramen Recipe
Kylie Jenner’s ramen recipe only has around 4 ingredients: instant ramen, garlic powder, egg, and butter. My version of the recipe, however, has gluten free ramen noodles, soy sauce, chicken stock, salt and pepper, garlic and garlic powder, sambal or sriracha, egg, lime, butter, scallions, and furikake seasoning.
The Special Ingredients:
What is furikake?
Japanese furikake is a dry condiment or seasoning that usually includes ingredients like dried nori, sesame seeds, salt, and other ingredients. It’s really popular in certain sushi rolls, as well as just on top of plain rice in japan! I got my furikake seasoning from Trader Joe’s, but it’s not hard to find!
What is sambal?
Sambal is a popular type of chili paste that has a similar type of spice and heat to sriracha. The ingredients in the two are really similar, and in this recipe, they can 100% be used interchangeably.
The Gluten Free Ramen Noodles
The gluten free brand of ramen noodles I used are Nona Lim:
They are stored in the fridge, and honestly are some of the most tender gluten free ramen noodles I have ever tried! These noodles are also SUPER easy to cook and don’t even have to be boiled. They can just be microwaved in their plastic packaging for one minute and then thrown into the pan with the scrambled egg!
Directions:
This recipe is SUPER easy. Seriously, it took me maybe 10 minutes to make, and it tastes like it was much more complicated. The first thing you should do is heat up your pan with fresh garlic and butter. Once it’s fragrant, add your egg and cook! Then, add your microwaved OR boiled gluten free ramen noodles.
The next step is to use a silicone spatula to mix the noodles and the egg together so it is unincorporated, but without breaking the noodles apart. This can be difficult, and I find using a sort of swirling motion works best. Before the noodles start to stick to the pan, add more salted butter, the soy sauce, and the chicken stock. mix together until combined, then add the rest of the ingredients except the scallions.
After this, all that’s left to do is plate it! I like to garnish with a lime slice, some scallions, and extra furikake seasoning!
My Notes on this Recipe:
- Keep the heat on low while you’re cooking everything in the pan together! This will ensure nothing sticks, and also make sure that the egg doesn’t get rubbery.
- Add or omit whatever you’d like! This recipe is SO versatile!

- Add your cooked noodles, chicken broth, and soy sauce. Stir with the spatula until fully combined, but gently, as to not break up the noodles.
- Add the sambal or sriracha, lime juice, garlic powder, the rest of the butter, and furikake seasoning. Mix until combined, then transfer into a bowl, top with extra furikake seasoning and scallions, and enjoy!
