This recipe for sauteed figs is one of my favorite desserts to serve. It’s simple and easy, only uses 4 ingredients, and the end result is as professional looking as it is delicious. The figs are sauteed in butter, and the creamy mascarpone is dolloped on top with a drizzle of honey. It’s not too sweet, and SO good.
The Simple Ingredients:
There are only 4 ingredients in this dessert recipe. Only 4!! Fresh figs, mascarpone cheese, honey, and butter.
Here are some of my notes on the ingredients:
The Figs:
I chose a variety of types of figs for this recipe, because I thought the variety would look beautiful when served. In terms of choosing figs, I chose the more under ripe ones of the bunch from the store. I usually like my fruit under ripe (weird quirk, I know) but for this recipe I actually recommend choosing the more firm figs. It’ll add a nice tart flavor to the dessert to contrast the sweetness of the honey.
The Instructions
First, cut the figs in half lengthwise, and heat about a tablespoon of butter in a large pan on medium heat. Once the butter is slightly browned, add the figs, face down. Cook for about 3-5 minutes or until browned to your liking.
Once cooked and caramelized to your liking, remove them from the pan and transfer them onto a large serving plate.
Add a few figs to a bowl or plate, and add a dollop of fresh mascarpone cheese onto the top. The figs should be warmed, so the mascarpone should melt a little and become creamy. Drizzle honey over the cheese and figs, and serve!
This recipe is DELICIOUS and so easy, and I highly recommend making it while figs are in season! Here’s the recipe:
