It’s that time again! Here’s a new juice recipe! I’ve been struggling to create new and creative juices that aren’t too similar to the juice recipes I’ve already posted on here. And yes, this juice is a little similar to the last one I published (you can find the recipe HERE) but it really does taste different! There’s ginger in this juice, for one, and the other recipe had many more ingredients.
Ingredients:
This recipe uses carrots, an orange, strawberries, apple, and ginger.
The ginger is great for digestive health and is a natural anti-inflammatory! It’s been known to help ease nausea and can settle an upset stomach as well. There’s only a very little bit of ginger in this recipe, because it can be very overpowering, but it’s still delicious in small quantities.
Orange is really high in Vitamin C, which boosts the immune system. It’s especially important to consume enough Vitamin C every day now, due to the pandemic. Making sure your immune system is strong and healthy can be a great method of preventative care. That being said, make sure you are also social distancing and staying home if you can!
Carrots are high in Vitamin C as well, but they also can boost your metabolism, and give you stronger vision. I used them in this recipe because I really think the mild sweetness goes well with the spiciness of the ginger and the more prevalent sweetness of the strawberries and apple.
Strawberries, while yes, high in sugar, can help regulate your blood sugar and promote heart health. They contain berry anthocyanins, which have been proven to lower your risks of heart disease and promote heart health!
Apples can also help regulate blood sugar, promote heart health, and can potentially help with weight loss. They are relatively low in calories, and high in micronutrients, like Vitamin C and potassium.
Instructions and Tips:
The first step is to cut your fruit into a size your juicer can handle. For me (I have the AICOK slow masticating juicer) the fruit pieces need to be about 2 – 3 inch squares.
Once your fruit is cut up, just put it in through the juicer in an alternating pattern (for example, a piece of apple, a piece of carrot, a piece of strawberry, etc.) SO, here’s the recipe! It’s super simple and yummy. Perfect to serve with eggs and toast for breakfast or just as a snack.
“Orange” Juice
Equipment
- Juicer
Ingredients
- 3 large carrots
- 1 red apple (I used fiji)
- 6 large strawberries (if your strawberries are small, use 12)
- 1 orange
- 1/2 inch square ginger (peeled)
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients and cut them into a size appropriate for your juicer. There is no need to peel the carrots or the apple, but you should peel the ginger because the skin is too fiberous.
- Push the pieces of fruit through the juicer in an alternating pattern: a piece of apple, a piece of strawberry, a piece of carrot, etc. Then, repeat the pattern until all the fruit has gone through the juicer. Add the ginger last.
- Stir the juice and store in an airtight container for up to one week or drink immediately.
