I finally tried meal prepping! As a member of the Celiac community and the instagram wellness community, I’m no stranger to the possibilities that come with gluten free meal prepping… so I figured I’d try it out for myself! Since our family’s new kitchen was just renovated, I decided to film it! Here’s the video!!
My Takeaways from Meal Prepping:
First of all, I loved it! It was super satisfying to have in the fridge, and it was also amazingly convenient for breakfasts and snacks. I didn’t get as much out of the lunches as I did from the chia pudding and the fruit and vegetable snack packs.
Here are my tips if you are interested in healthy meal prepping like I did:
#1 – plan your meals ahead of time
I wrote out exactly what I wanted to make, with ingredient lists, before heading to the grocery store on Sunday. I went into Whole Foods with a clear list of everything I needed, which made for a productive meal prepping session and an extremely quick grocery store trip.
#2 – DON’T be overly ambitious!
I feel like one of the mistakes I made was prepping copious amounts of food. As it turns out, I didn’t need as much as I made, especially because I don’t have as rigid of a schedule in the summer. I found out through this process, that I really only benefit from prepared breakfasts and snacks.
#3 – Cook things you’re excited about!
For me especially, due to the recipes I made, the meal prepping process took me from 4-5 hours. If I wasn’t excited about what I was cooking, I wouldn’t have had such a positive process.
#4 – Use good containers
For snack prepping, I used this container! It worked super conveniently
