Why I created this recipe:
Smoothie bowls are my absolute favorite breakfast. They have SO many different types of healthy fruits and vegetables, the toppings are so customizable, and they taste like ice cream if you make them the right way. Recently, since I’ve been spending so much time at home, I’ve been making smoothie bowls at least 2-3 times a week… and this is my go-to recipe!
Because I love it so much, I figured I should share it with all of you! For this recipe, I combined two of my recent obsessions: smoothie bowls, and matcha.
I’ve been drinking matcha as much as I can. Some people think it tastes like grass, but with some vanilla almond milk, it creates the PERFECT tea latte. I like to get the iced one from Starbucks, however, I’ve learned how to make them at home as well!
I love matcha. I drink it in a latte, or, more frequently, I put it in my smoothies! It wakes me up without making me feel jittery, and the flavor is great, too!
Ingedients:
This recipe is so easy! It starts with just a few simple ingredients to make the smoothie base: pineapple, mango, banana, and almond milk. Then, only 2 more ingredients are added to make the smoothie healthier, and yummier: matcha powder and spinach!
The SUPER easy instructions:
Start by adding the pineapple, mango, banana, and a LITTLE bit of almond milk to a medium sized blender.
Blend on high speed for a few minutes until one consistency. The smoothie should look like this:
Add the spinach and matcha and blend again, until one color. Keep blending until you can see all the spinach has been incorporated.
After that, I like to pour my smoothie into a large bowl, and freeze it for about 20 minutes. This gives the smoothie a thicker consistency, and overall more cold and delicious! It’s like ice cream!
Last step – prepare your toppings and lay them on top of the smoothie bowl!
Serve and enjoy!
Happy cooking! I hope you all love this recipe as much as I do! It’s easy, yummy, and healthy too! 🙂
Matcha Smoothie Bowl with Fresh Fruit and Honey
Ingredients
The Smoothie
- 1/4 cup frozen pineapple
- 1/4 cup frozen mango
- 1/2 one large frozen banana
- 1/2 cup spinach
- 3/4 tsp matcha powder
- Around 1/4 cup almond milk
Toppings (You can substitute or add whatever you'd like)
- 2 large strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 large banana, sliced
- 1 handful frozen blackberries
- 2 tbsp unsweetened shreddded coconut
- Honey, for drizzling
Instructions
- Add the frozen banana, pineapple, and mango to the blender. Add a few tbsp of almond milk, and blend. If you don't have enough almond milk in the blender, and the ingredients don't seem to be blending, you can slowly add a few more teaspoons until it starts to blend together.
- Blend until combined. Then, add the matcha powder and spinach and blend for a few consecutive minutes again, until one solid green color.
- Transfer the smoothie into a bowl. Set that bowl in the freezer for around 15-20 minutes, or until slightly more frozen than before.
- Prepare your toppings: slice the fruits, gather whatever you'd like to go on top of your smoothie bowl.
- Lay your toppings out on top of the green smoothie, then drizzle with honey and enjoy!
